A holiday in Turkey

I think I was born a traveller. No matter what time of the year, if I am not on holiday I am thinking about being on holiday. As soon as I finished studying for my degree I was off round to world for a year and a half and I had only been home when I started to get itchy feet again. I did a bit more travelling over the next couple of year but unfortunately there comes a point where you have to decide whether you are going to live a life of poverty with a lot of travelling, or you choose to live an ordinary life with a full time job and get away for holidays whenever you can. I chose the latter, and since then I have managed to get away at least twice a year. I do think it is worth it to save up your money as you work and then really have enough money to enjoy all of the places you go.

This year I have managed to get two weeks off so I am going to go to Turkey because it isd one of the places I am yet to visit in Europe. I managed to find some Dalaman flights online which were pretty cheap and I thought that it would be a great part of Turkey to start off from. It was meant to be a beautiful town and the coastline nearby was talked of in hushed tones for its beauty and clarity. It’s not quite the same as setting off for months at a time, but I know that I will enjoy every minute of my two weeks in Turkey.

My friends and I were desperate to see a bit of the world. We had all been studying hard for our degrees for so long that it seemed like forever since we had been able to relax and take it easy. None of us had been away or out of the country for years, and it was about time we did something about it.

We found out that it was possible to get a graduate loan from any of our bank accounts, and we all thought it was a great idea to open one of these to fund a trip away. We were all doing well in our courses and it seemed very likely that we would be able to get jobs once we came back from our travels. Each of us contacted our banks and we were all successful in obtaining a loan from the bank which meant that we would be able to travel for the whole summer if we wanted to!

This was great news and it really gave us all a massive lift. All we had to do was to choose where to go! One of my friends had been over in Beijing for the Olympics and he said it was the most amazing place he had ever been. We all wanted to head out in that general direction anyway, so we decidede that it would be our first destination on our travels. I managed to find some cheap flights to Beijing online and we booked ourselves some tickets. Now all we had to do was finish our exams.

Last year sometime, my girlfriend and I had a blazing row. It was the normal thing, a trivial affair that escalated beyond what it should have done. To be honest, a lot of that was down to me and I knew it. I decided to make a bit of a grand gesture, and I thought I would whisk her away for a long weekend to make up for it. We are fortunate that we only live an hour from one of the main airports, and it was quite easy for us to do something like this. It was only May, so I started to find out about the climate in some of the top European resorts at this time of year. I discovered that Tenerife weather at this time of year was generally great. I also checked out a Tenerife guide and there seemed to be loads of stuff for us to do, so I started to look for weekend deals.

There were loads to choose from, and the prices were brilliant. I plumped for a weekend in Playa de Las Americas, which is a very lively resort. I thought that we needed to let our hair down for a change, and blow the cobwebs away.

Once I told my girlfriend that I had booked us a weekend away in Tenerife the mood immediately began to soften! Before we knew it we were excitedly chattgng about all the fun we would have over the weekend. It was certainly a great way to patch things up, not to mention a brilliant opportunity to see a beautiful island.
